Biography
Dr. Daniel Maspoch is an ICREA Research Professor and Group Leader at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) and Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB, Spain). His main research interests focus on clip-off chemistry, reticular chemistry and materials, and delivery systems. He is the author of over 230 articles, has filed 16 patents (4 of which have been licensed), signed 4 technology transfer contracts, developed 3 technologies currently available on the market, and is the co-founder of the spin-off company Ahead Therapeutics. In recent years, he has received prestigious European Research Council ERC-Consolidator, Proof-of-Concept (x2), and ERC-Advanced Grants. He has also been appointed as a Corresponding Academician of the Royal Spanish Academy of Science and has received several awards, including the Gold Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (2026), the Research Excellence Award from the Catalan Society of Chemistry (2025), the Hermanos Elhuyar Hans Goldschmidt Lecture from the German Chemical Society (2024), the prestigious Rei Jaume I Award (2023), and the Research Excellence Award from the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (2020).
